Bright green leaves with a rich red stem and veins make this an eyecatching addition to salads. Young and tender leaves have the same tangy, lemon flavor as regular green sorrel. Good for baby leaf.
Cultivation: Prefers cool and mild temperatures. Prepare fertile, well drained soil. Sow seeds in spring. Keep soil moist. Cut plant when 3-5" tall for baby leaf production.
Notes: Constant temperatures can induce dormancy, and cycling temperatures work best for optimum germination (high day/low night). Suggestion for hydroponic systems, using 5 full days at low temp (8C) during imbibition stage, then increasing temp to 18 C night 25 C day.
The dormancy effect does diminish with older seed but it still helps to get more even crop.
