Cultivation: Prefers cool temperatures. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in early to mid spring as soon as the soil can be worked (soil temperatures must be above 40° F) or sow seeds in fall 8-10 weeks before first frost date. Keep soil moist. May require short trellising. Heavy watering during flowering can interfere with pollination. Fertilize as needed with a balanced fertilizer. Too much nitrogen will produce lush foliage and result in poor flowering and fruiting. Harvest regularly. Pick when pods are full and plump and peas are tender. Prepare peas immediately after harvest.
