This variety from Taiwan is also known as Round Leaf Lettuce and is referred to there as "a choy". The oriental lettuce has round light-green leaves and is a very popular green vegetable in Taiwan. Harvest at an early stage when leaves and stems are young and crispy. Try this leafy green in salad or stir-fry with chicken, fish, or with other vegetables, and with seasonings such as garlic, chili, pepper, soy or oyster sauces.
