 Shirona |
Prized for its uniformity and fast growth, this popular Japanese local green produces fan-shaped bright green leaves with white midribs or petioles. Shirona is tolerant to both cold and heat. In frost-free areas it can be sown all year long, but avoid planting in the middle of a hot summer. The most popular method for preparing this green is stir-frying it with meats or other vegetables, which maintains most of this green's nutrients. It also makes a tasty and colorful addition to soup, or can be pickled, as well.
