This variety of snow pea is cultivated for its delicious and tender pea shoots. Harvest the tendrils and leaves at the top of the pea stem on established plants. Cutting regularly will promote a longer harvest of continuous side shoot growth. Considered a delicacy.

Cultivation: Prefers cool temperatures. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in early to late spring after last frost, or sow seeds in fall 8-10 weeks before first frost date. Keep soil moist but not soaked during the germinating period to prevent seeds from rotting. Fertilize as needed with a balanced fertilizer. Begin cutting when plants are at least 10-12" tall.

Culinary tips: Young pea shoot-tips and leaves have a delicious pea flavor. Stir-fry with garlic in dishes such as Chinese dau miao.
