This deep purplish, large, broad-leafed mustard has a mustard-like pungency. Use in soup, salad, stir-fry or pickled. Harvest the leaves when young for salads or layer into sandwiches instead of using prepared mustard. The leaves can be cut from the plant, which will rapidly grow new ones. Make your own prepared mustard by letting the plant go to seed. When the pods turn yellow, harvest and place the seeds in a blender with vinegar, spices and water.
