 Hiro Haba |
A popular Chinese herb with broad, deep green leaves up to 14" long. Leaves, buds and stems are edible. Asian cuisine calls for Hiro Haba in soups, stir-fries and salads, and also quite often with egg dishes. The Japanese make a tempura snack by tying the leaves into a bundle, dipping them in batter, and deep frying them. The pretty, edible, star-like white flowers make this plant an attractive addition to the garden.
