This traditional Japanese herb, with green, serrated leaves, is used as an edible garnish. Seed germination time is slow. The green variety is spicier than the purple. Use the aromatic, cinnamon-flavored leaves, with sashimi, salad, wrapped around sushi or made into tempura.
