Cultivation: Kohlrabi prefers mild or cool temperatures. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in early spring or mid/late summer. To avoid sowing during summer heat, start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before planting outside. Transplant in full sun. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Optimum growing temperature is 60-80°F. Since thickened stem grow above ground, kohlrabi is a good choice for areas with root maggots.
